Preparing for Surgery

Day Before Surgery

Do NOT eat, drink ANYTHING after midnight the night prior to your surgery. This includes gum, candy and mints. Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior to or after surgery.

DO NOT smoke ANYTHING after midnight the night before your surgery

Prior to surgery, bathe and shampoo with antibacterial soap.

Day of Surgery

Arrive at least 1 hour before your scheduled procedure to complete pre-surgery paperwork.

Ensure a responsible adult (over 18 years old) is available to remain in the building during your procedure and is available to drive you home after surgery.

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and flat shoes

What you need to bring with you the day of surgery:

A photo ID

Insurance Card

Co-pay for insurance, if applicable

A list of ALL MEDICATIONS you are currently taking including dose and times that you take them.

Crutches/Walker, if applicable

What to leave at home:

All valuables, cell phone, wallet purse

All jewelry including watches, wedding bands and ANY form of piercing

Do NOT wear lotion, makeup, nail polish, contact lens or perfume/cologne

Do NOT bring actual pill bottles or home medications unless instructed to do so
